Jo'burg's cafe culture

The third branch of Leonida's has opened up in Sandton (between the Mandela Sqaure & the new Michaelangelo Towers). not only do they make an original and decadent hot chocolate (basically real Belgian chocolate melted into a cup), they also have a "make your own coffee" machine which works like a charm and brews a fantastic cup. There selection of Belgium's finest chocs are also available for purchase. This store is DANGEROUS for chocolate lovers...

Lazy Sunday afternoons can be enjoyed along 4th Avenue in Parkhurst. For a great meal topped off with a nice strong espresso, visit George's on 4th. Don't forget to order a delicious desert to accompany your coffee - we would recommend the chocolte wallnut tart.

Great capuccino from 8 @ The Towers (Michaelangelo Towers in Sandton). Especially liked the cocoa decoration. They also do great cocktails and apparently their food's pretty good too...

The Creme Brulee at The Peach Hotel (Wanderers) was really good...its a pity of its size...but presentation makes up for it...great place for coffee and desert...try the chocolate pudding.Yum.

A baked cheesecake from Casalinga, yum yum, its Gary Player's daughters place. Great view of the garden with a relaxing atmosphere. Its a little out, 30min from JHB or Pta. Great for Saturday or Sunday afternoons.

An espresso experience at Anika's Deli in Michael Angelo Towers in Sandton. If you can find the plain baked cheesecake there, go for it, its on our top 10Baked cheesecakes. The chocolate log is ok, looks better than it tastes.

Life in Sandton Mall is wow, especially the Salads, Sushi and best of all the Dark Chocolate and Strawberries. A little pricy but worth it. The Cappucinos are a little pricy and not that great. Go for the Green Tea option, they serve it in a cool pot.

The first Gloria Jeans in Sandton. They make the best flavoured coffee in the world, its yummy...stick to the coffee...

The best French Toast at the trendy but plain look: Lapa Flo Coffee/Restaurant (134a Bhertzgav Emmarentia, Johannesburg)

The newest and first Gauteng branch of the trendy Vida e Caffe has now opened in Greenside. Great coffee, great music, great vibe. And dont forget the pasteis de nata

For a drink with a view, not much beats the Westcliff's Polo Lounge and Conservatory. Highly recommended is a Negroni on the terrace...

If you feel like spoining yourself or a loved one/s, head on over to the Fairlawns Boutique Hotel in Sandton/Morningside for High Tea...

Dimitri having a traditional Fredo Capucchino and Greek Coffee from the "Briki" from Tasha's excellent Greek influenced restaurant. Athol Square, Sandton.

The ultimate in Cappucino. Perfect for a Sunday morning wake up call. No Chocolate flakes, as they serve it in Italy.Europa, Village Walk.

Pancake Stack at the quaint yet popular Deli One in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. The food's good but dont plan on being anywhere else in a hurry. The service is slow...
